Windermere Golf Club is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the post of full time Greenkeeping Assistant.

Job Description:
To carry out ground maintenance duties as directed by the Head Greenkeeper, ensuring that the course is always presented in the best possible condition.

Reporting line:
Head Greenkeeper

The role will include responsibility for:
• Ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the golf course and surrounding area so that it exceeds the expectations of members, guests & visitors.

The Successful Candidate will:
• Prepare the course for play including cutting all playing surfaces, changing holes, moving markers, and spraying for weeds.
• Operate grass cutting machinery safely and effectively, care and maintenance of machinery and the reporting of loss or damage to line manager according to policy and procedure.
• Manage the golf course as directed by the Head Greenkeeper, in accordance with the club’s golf course maintenance policy, the health & safety policy and the green keeper’s code of conduct.
• Carry out construction, aeration and turfing work/duties as required.
• Help maintain the irrigation system.
• Ensure the efficient and effective operation and safe handling of all machinery and equipment following policy and procedure.
• Undertake ad-hoc projects and assignments as required.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures and work within the Health & Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment and HAVS Assessment guidelines at all times.
• Ensure the efficient and effective operation and safe handling of all chemicals following policies and procedures.
• Undertake any other duties that may be required.
• Report to the line manager on the condition of the golf course environment.
• Communicate risks and hazards to the appropriate person.
• Ensure that green keeping premises are secured and locked prior to leaving.

• Always maintain a professional and welcoming approach when dealing with members, guests, visitors, contractors & suppliers.
• Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.

*Specific Job Skills: *
• Fully qualified greenkeeper.
• Additional greenkeeping qualifications and licences desirable.
• Have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, multi-task and have organisational skills, commitment, and discipline to see work through to completion.
• Physically fit with a good level of stamina.
• Have a positive “can do” attitude.

Remuneration & Terms:
A competitive salary will be offered commensurate with experience and contracted hours.
The post will involve working any 5 days from 7 per week with two days off. Hours will average 40 per week and include weekends on a rota basis. Hours will revolve around the requirements of the business.

Golf Shop Assistant

Windermere Golf Club is inviting candidates to apply for the post of Golf shop assistant.

Job Description:
Based in the golf shop, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that every aspect of our member and visitor enquiries and visits to Windermere Golf Club are professional and enjoyable. The post will involve assisting with the day to day running of the golf shop including being the first point of call for all member and visitor interaction. The position is for a minimum of 24 hours per week to include Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays with the opportunity of extra hours to cover busy periods and staff holidays.

Reporting line:
Golf Club Manager

The role will include responsibility for:
• Being the first point of contact for all golf related enquiries, bookings and welcoming members and visitors.
• Taking green fee and retail payments.
• Confidently taking enquiries via telephone.
• Managing the golf bookings sheet.
• Maintaining the professional appearance of the golf shop including merchandising and stocking.
• Assisting with Club events such as competitions and social functions.
• Delivering a high standard of customer service to members and visitors.
• Opening and closing the golf shop, cash handling and administration.
• Representing the Club in a professional manner at all times.
• Club administration and marketing activities.
• Communicating effectively to members, visitors, co-workers and other internal departments such as the greenkeeping and bar/catering teams.

The Successful Candidate will:
• Have experience in a customer facing environment.
• Be able to work on their own and use their own initiative whilst working as part of a small team.
• Be extremely organised, able to plan their day and complete tasks within set timescales.
• Be friendly, welcoming, and approachable with excellent customer service skills.
• Have a positive “can do” approach.
• Be a good communicator both in person and over the telephone.
• An interest in golf is beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.
